Welcome to The definition of /dev/null.

This is my personal website. The views expressed here are my personal views, not those of the Atlantis open source development Crew. This site, which is coded by hand and frames free, contains valid HTML, thus should be viewable with any browser, including Lynx. Some parts are written in Perl. This website doesn't relay on any non-valid content which may require proprietary plugins, like Adobe FlashPlayer. This website is coded with the KISS principle in mind. If you experience any problems using this site, please let me know. Links to Norwegian sites are marked with "(Norwegian)", and links which require Adobe Flashplayer are marked with "(Flash)". A light version of this website is also available, written in WML for WAP-browsers. You may listen to this Ogg-file (440KB) which is kind of a welcome-message in an audio-format. You may want to take a look at the introduction to this site.

Projects

Projects that I'm a part of: Other/personal projects/stuff/pages located on this site (that should be updated regularly): Back to site map.

Interests

I like to write/read fiction (poems, short stories and novels, mostly related to crime/horror/fantasy/drama) and facts (e.g. psychology, philosophy, religion, art, culture, politics, local history and mythology).

I'm into Japanese martial arts as well. I was training Judo for several years, now I am training Shotokan Karate-do in the dojo of Lura Karateklubb (Norwegian). I'm an 8. kyu. View a picture of me in my gi (40KB). Photo taken by my Master, Trond Grønnestad. My Sensei is Geir Arild Larsen.

I like music: Prog/hard/punk/psychedelic/noise rock (e.g. Deep Purple, Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler, Led Zeppelin (Flash), Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Syd Barrett (Flash), The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Sex Pistols, and The Velvet Underground.) Prog/black/thrash/heavy/alternative/doom metal (e.g. Black Sabbath, Deathspell Omega, Katharsis, Koldbrann, Lifelover, Tool, and Xasthur). I like some electronica (e.g. Drexciya, Faithless, Kraftwerk (Flash), Massive Attack, Mortiis, The Prodigy, and Underworld). I even like some modern pop music (e.g. Avril Lavigne (Flash), Coldplay, Katie Melua (Flash) and Kent).

I like movies: giallo, crime, horror, thriller, sci-fi and drama (e.g. A Blade in the Dark, Alien, The Beyond, Brokeback Mountain, Cruel Intentions, Donnie Darko, Lost in Translation, Profondo Rosso, The Silence of the Lambs, and Suspiria). My favorite TV-series is The X-Files, The 4400, Roswell, and Band of Brothers.

I like beer (mostly british stout) and whisk(e)y (mostly scottish and irish). I especially prefer scottish single malt whisky from the following regions: Highland, Islay and Speyside. Occationaly I drink cognac, gin, mead, sherry, vodka and wine as well, although I tend to prefer beer and whisk(e)y. If I had to choose one favorite whisky, I would say Ardbeg Islay single malt. I'm trying to drink responsibly (with varying degree of success). Here's a picture of my bar.

I like numerous pipe-tobaccos, including Amphora, Kong Frederik IX's, Brookfield, MacBaren and Sir William. Usually I don't smoke cigarettes, but I like the taste of Lucky Strike and Camel natural flavour. Sometimes I use dipping tobacco, and General portion is my favorite. Note however that I don't use illegal substances.

Other activities that I find enjoyable includes walking in the forest, swimming in fresh water (not in the ocean), playing chess (I own four different chess-boards), shooting (I own a crosman 1088, and an MP-40 machine gun in softgun-format), and probably a lot more.

The following are mentioned because of my fascination/obsession: Animals with silly walks (e.g. penguins, crabs and turtles), watching people arguing - or watching people in love with each other, a dry sense of humor, people with comb overs, paintings/pictures/drawings of desolated and/or abandoded places/people, numbers (e.g. the binary and hexadecimal numeral systems), colors (e.g. black and green) and shapes (e.g. pentagrams, hexagrams and octagrams).
